Danish Teak Classics in an East Isles home

November 28th, 2016

Recently, we helped some wonderful clients furnish their newly-remodeled Minneapolis home. A strategic mixture of vintage modern and new pieces brought these spaces to life and helped them function well for this family of four. (Well, six, including their adorable dogs.)

The living room sofa is 1930s vintage Scandinavian, upholstered in blue mohair and the vintage Swedish captains chairs are dressed in sheepskins. The lounge chair is 1950s vintage Danish, upholstered in a Knoll textile. The Turkish goat hair rug is one-of-a-kind.

The hearth room off of the entry faces the living room and features a custom hand-knotted wool rug and a vintage Jens Risom ottoman. The sconces are by David Weeks.

A teak drawer chest provides hidden storage in a corner of the living room, beside a vintage scalloped teak floor lamp.

A pair of new charcoal stoneware lamps on the buffet and a Poul Henningsen pendant lamp light the dining room, which is furnished with a set of vintage Danish chairs upholstered in a classic Scandinavian wool. The plate is by ceramicist Ernest Miller.

An inviting group of lounge furniture, including a black papercord easy chair by Hans J. Wegner, sits in the sunroom. The pillows were made from new and vintage textiles. A new white glass pendant light is suspended overhead, and the teak column table lamp is vintage.
