MN Fashion Week

April 18th, 2010

Don't count us out just because of our Midwest location, Minneapolis is a viable contender in fashion, music, and mischief.  MN Fashion Week kicked off this weekend, but don't fret, there are still a plethora of events throughout this next week.  I couldn't possibly attend them all, so here are a few of my tops.

Thursday:

The Office on Film
: Nine to Five (1980)

Goldstein Museum of Design
6p
Nine to Five is just one of those must-see movies that I've yet to see.  See it at the Goldstein Museum as part of the exhibit "How the Secretaries Changed the 20th c. Office" that I blogged about a few weeks ago.  Exhibit is open until 8p.

Stupid Dance Party
501 Club
9p
Point. clothing launch and dance party.  Dance music mixtapes DJ'd by Point. designer, featuring some Heart, Blondie, Iggy Pop, Sex Pistols, and many more.  It'll be hard not to loosen and and dance.

Friday:

Fashion Ball "Cabaret Catwalk"

Ritz Theater
7:30p
High-fashion meets avant garde cabaret in these 4 runways shows styled by Grant Whittaker and Myron Johnson.  Its bound to be a memorable night at the very least!

Saturday:

Tweed Ride, April Showers Edition

Minnehaha Falls
3p
Are you a dapper gent or a fetching lady?  Don your best tweeds and bicycle for this leisurely group ride though S. Mpls. Really, what's better than a stylist costumed pub crawl?  There's a contest for best dressed, so don't hold back on your attire!

These are just the events that caught my blue eyes, but check out the whole list for yourself at the MN Fashion Week website.
