Exhibits at the Hennepin History Museum

March 27th, 2010

Get a glimpse of the Minneapolis of days past at the Hennepin History Museum.  There are currently 4 exhibits on display – Downtown: A Photographic Memoir; Icons for the Bereaved: Traditions and Artifacts of Mourning; Hennepin County goes to the Movies; and The Century of the Child.

Explore how the physical fabric of the city has changed and then take a walk around downtown to search out the things that haven't. Laugh at how easily children were entertained by a simple metal hoop and stick, and learn how the lives of some young children were dark and far from fanciful. See photos and relics from the city's fantastic movie houses when going to the movies was a socially electric occasion. And on a more somber note, see how our earlier generations coped when all the fun times came to an end.
